MMU and OCI Romania have initiated in 2001 a very ambitious project in Romania: a first nation-wide research intended to reveal the evangelical presence in Romania.

Thus, in 2001, MMU and OCI have published the most comprehensive research material comprising statistic data and analyses on the presence of the evangelical denominations in Romania (Pentecostal, Baptist and Brethren).

What we discovered

The information has revealed both the number of churches of each denomination and their distribution by region, county, city, town, communes and villages. At the same time, comprehensive analyses were performed which resulted in a series of projections and prospects regarding the number of churches that still needed to be planted in Romania in order to attain saturation.

At that time, Romania had 20 towns and 10, 000 villages with no evangelical church at all.
